Available in Audio Book at last, the unabridged autobiography of Karl May in English provides an insightful glimpse into the inner world of this prolific author; the demons that drove him and the opponents who pursued him, and the single mindedness by which he defeated every enemy, real or imagined, throughout his long and productive life.To know Karl May by his own account is to shine a new light on his ‘Travelers Tales’, and give meaning to their existence. It is an excellent reference for students of Karl May. This is a Audio book CD of My Life , My Mission, The Autobiography of Karl May. "Karl May's world famous novels have now been translated into English by translators from Nemsi Books. All of the audio books are narrated by Victor Epp, the "English Voice of Karl May" "If one were to travel in a straight line from the earth to the sun for a period of three months and then goes on in the same direction beyond the sun for the same period, one would reach a planet [1] named Sitara. Sitara is a Persian- Arabian word and simply means “star”. This “star” has much, very much, in common with our earth. Its diameter is 1,700 miles [1a] and its equator measures 5400 miles. It revolves around itself and also around the sun. One revolution around itself takes precisely one day, the orbit around the sun takes precisely one year, not a second more or less. Its surface consists of one part land and two parts water. But, while there are five continents to be found on earth, the land of Sitara is arranged in a different and much simpler manner. It is all connected. It does not form many continents, but just a single one, which consists of the low lands, full of swamps, and the high lands, boldly towering up towards the sun. A rather narrow, steeply ascending strip of jungle connects both. The low lands are flat, unhealthy plains, rich in poisonous plants and savage beasts. They are at the mercy of all the tempests that rage from sea to sea. It is called Ardistan. ‘Ard’ means earth, soil, a base substance. And figuratively it means taking pleasure in a mindless existence in dust and filth, the inconsiderate lust for material things, the cruel annihilation of all that does not belong to or is not willing to serve oneself. Thus, Ardistan is the home of the low, selfish ways of existence, and in respect to its more evolved " inhabitants, the land of violence and egotism. The highland, on the other hand, is lofty, healthy, eternally young and beautiful, kissed by sunbeams, rich in natural gifts as well as the products of human effort, a Garden of Eden, a paradise. It is called Jinnistan. ‘Jinni’ means genius, benevolent spirit, bliss bringing unearthly creature and figuratively it means the inner yearning for a greater truth. Also the pleasure in mental and spiritual progress, the diligent striving towards everything that is good and noble, and most of all the joy in sharing another’s happiness and in the well-wishing of all those who need nurture and love. Thus, Jinnistan is the realm of humanity and of neighborly love, reaching skyward like the mountains, the once promised land of the noble spirited people.
